DevSecOps is a growing concern for developers to have access to the entire stack. The wide range of privileges granted to developers can cause significant disruptions to the cloud infrastructure due to insider threats and random incidents. As a result, DevSecOps teams monitor activity and access to identify privileged access and use this to assign as few privileges as possible.
5. A near-perfect digital experience
Delivering near-perfect digital experiences is rapidly evolving from a novelty to a gamble. With the explosive growth of applications and cloud infrastructure’s ubiquity, front-end development has taken center stage. Developers will be tasked with the skills and job-like responsibilities to increase productivity, accelerate improvements and deliver massive customer experience improvements.
6. Native mobile development languages
I expect that modern native mobile development languages (Kotlin, Swift) and programming languages focused on improving product speed, memory safety, parallelism (Rust, etc.) have a promising future. This expectation link to the growing user demand for quality, customization, and speed of apps.

In the past, security and compliance practices have been reactive, mainly because teams rushed to resolve security issues after they created. By adopting a “shift-left” approach, developers and security teams work together to identify security issues before cloud resources proactively. This approach increases developer productivity and avoids security and compliance risks.
10. Balanced development automation
A trend is shifting from software development automation to balanced development automation that includes other business teams such as risk, compliance, and legal. Software development, now a critical process for all businesses, is evolving from an automated technology pipeline to a value stream where ‘cross-functional means moving beyond IT into other parts of the organization.
11. Vulnerability disclosure program
Since DHS BOD 20–01 mandates a vulnerability disclosure program for all agencies in the United States, I expect the trend of “expecting, identifying, and mitigating security holes” through VDPs to dominate in the second half of the 2020s. I believe that mobile development will continue to increase in importance, and desktop optimization will continue to decline.
Code-as-a-Service will accelerate the use of platform-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service, and eventually cloud computing. Case, unlike individual platforms like iOS and Android, will increasingly be universal development needs. With integrated modules for artificial intelligence, machine learning, the Internet of Things, and blockchain, developers will have easy access to these technologies they need.\
